Ha Chong-Hyun as a leading member of the Dansaekhwa movement, turned to abstraction in the early 1960s, belonging to the first generation of Korean artists who embraced non-figurative approaches to art-making. Known for his ongoing “Conjunction” series, he has consistently experimented with materials and used innovative studio processes to redefine the role of painting, thus playing a significant part in bridging avant-garde traditions between East and West.
